With the continued success and expansion of the most successful performing sectors in the country, there are plenty of opportunities for professionals in Ireland at this moment in time.
The term ‘candidates’ market’ is one that we are hearing more commonly as we progress throughout 2022. There are a variety of opinions as to what has caused the market to shift so heavily in candidates’ favour, none more so than the talent shortage that we are experiencing and have been experiencing for some time.
The Technology and IT sector has not only performed consistently but also delivered year-on-year growth for a decade in the emerald isle.
According to a recent study carried out with 411 employers in Ireland by the Manpower Group, reported by RTE earlier this week. It revealed that 42% of employers in the IT and Technology sector are actively seeking to hire more personnel.
“The pandemic has revolutionised the use of technology and IT across all sectors, which has driven up demand for tech skills in companies across the board. The tech sector had been an early adaptor of remote working prior to the pandemic, and we're seeing tech companies continue to offer remote and hybrid work opportunities as offices have reopened” John Galvin, Managing Director of ManpowerGroup Ireland, said.
These hybrid models of hiring and engaging with professional talent are also driving up placements from across Ireland’s other regional economies which can only be seen as a major positive, nationally.
The Life Sciences sector is also undergoing considerable expansion and the demand for talent to match this growth. Even though Ireland’s Life Science sector came from modest beginnings in the 1960’s, it now accounts for over 39% of national exports!
€80bn worth of exports from Ireland are as a direct result of the sector, the 7th largest medicinal exporter, worldwide.
Ireland is also heavily tipped to opportunistically grab the future in pharmaceutical manufacturing with the collaboration of the main players within the sector playing a significant part in positioning Ireland as an ideal location for further investment.
Opportunistic times lie ahead within the sector that is already responsible for the highest number of MedTech personnel per capita in the EU.
Even though the IT and Life Sciences sector are performing extremely well, that should not downplay the significant impact that other sectors have for Independent Professionals in Ireland and indeed the economy.
Over the past number of years, we have witnessed significant growth with clientele offering services in a project management, HR and marketing capacity. These sectors are also showing considerable growth with the modern era of professionals opting for the flexibility and pay retention offered through contract opportunities.
According to Jim Power, a leading economist, there is no better way to analyse the performance of a sector than to look at where the tax revenues are coming from within our economy.
This reinforces that the sectors most heavily involved with Independent Professionals are all performing extremely well.
Coincidence? We think not…. Independent Professionals are at the heart of Ireland’s economy and can take great pride in being a significant driver of growth for the economy and country as a whole!
